Our methodology, developed through many years of delivering strategic assurance, ensures we can review all aspects of your project or programme in a systematic and objective fashion and provide you peace of mind.
We provide a la carte menu of review that you can choose to define the scope of our engagement. We can provide assurance against a number of aspects of activity:
- Product Assurance – Are the deliverables of the project meeting all the objectives?
- Process Assurance – Is the way the project is being executed appropriately?
Product Assurance
Within product assurance we can ensure that the deliverables of your project comply with your tactical and strategic objectives while meeting functional and non-functional requirements. More specifically:
- We can determine whether the deliverables meet the functional requirements and checking for traceability from requirements to solution.
- We can check that technical and user documentation meets the appropriate quality and reflects what the solution actually does.
- Does the solution comply with the strategic business and technical architecture?
- We can assess for compliance with over 30 types of architecturally significant functional requirement, each of which could adversely affect the return-on-investment.
- We can assess how your team has addressed the non-functional aspects of the requirement. We currently assess against nearly 30 business-oriented, build-related and operational system qualities.
Process Assurance
Within process assurance we can ensure that your project is being conducted with the appropriate controls in place and that project staff are employing the necessary standards, processes and systems. More specifically:
- Has a Project Management Plan been developed? Have Project Start-Up, Planning, Execution and Closedown processes been executed/planned for execution effectively? What lessons are to be learnt from the project?
- Is your designated Software Development Life Cycle being followed? Is your designated Software Development Life Cycle appropriate for the project? What are its strengths and weaknesses in the context of the project?
- Is your designated Business Change Life Cycle followed? Is your designated Business Change Life Cycle appropriate for the project? What are its strengths and weaknesses?
- Are standards being complied with?
- Is a Configuration Management (CM) system being employed? Have Change Manager, Change Control roles been assigned? Have all Configuration Items been identified? Is the deliverable set under full Configuration Management?
- Are the project staff trained appropriately for the roles assigned?
- Is the Customer satisfied with the delivered solution?
- Are sub-contractors being managed appropriately? Is their use proving successful?
Delivery Options
We can engage with you to provide ongoing assurance expertise or as a one-off snapshot of your project.
- For Ongoing Assurance, we provide regular assurance status report to management, tailored to in-house styles. We can also adopt the popular traffic light systems for summary reporting. These reports record assurance findings and are primarily used to discuss, consider and instigate remedial actions or improvements as necessary.
- For Health Check, we provide a formal health check report. Our report details findings under a number of sections and makes formal recommendations for improvements and any remedial action deemed necessary.
